NAPIER

A popular tourist city and cruise ship destination, Napier is famed for its large number of wineries and high concentration of Art Deco-designed buildings found within its city centre, which was rebuilt in the architectural style of the day after the city was razed in the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake.

MORE INFORMATION

Every year, tens of thousands of converge on Emerson St in the Napier CBD to kick up their heels during the city’s world-renowned Art Deco Festival, which regularly attracts in excess of 40,000 domestic and international visitors. At the southern end of Emerson St, and diagonally opposite the War Memorial in Clive Square, lies Breakers Napier. Originally housed in Napier’s iconic Masonic Hotel on Marine Parade, Breakers Napier has been in its current site on Tennyson St down from Napier’s Municipal Theatre for the last six years. Large enough to accommodate the biggest soirees of Deco devotees, Breakers Napier also boasts an outdoor deck – the perfect spot on a scorching Hawke’s Bay summer day – as well as a kids’ entertainment area and a pool table, so there’s something for everyone!
